At the May 20, 2026, Board of Education Meeting, the Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD) adopted a resolution designating May 2026 as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
CVESD recognizes this opportunity to honor and celebrate the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities at CVESD. California is home to approximately 738,022 Asian American and Pacific Islander students representing at least 17 distinct ethnic groups.
The district encourages staff to engage students in appropriate lessons, meaningful instructional activities, and programs throughout this special month to commemorate and recognize the contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
