At its March 4, 2026, Board of Education Meeting, the Chula Vista Elementary School District’s (CVESD) Board of Education adopted a resolution designating April 2026 as National Autism Acceptance Month.

Through this resolution, CVESD reaffirms its commitment to fostering inclusive schools that recognize neurodiversity and support the success of every student. Across the district, educators, specialists, and support staff work with families to provide individualized services that help students access their education and participate fully in school communities.

The district’s Special Education Department coordinates a range of supports for students with autism and other special needs, including individualized education programs (IEPs), specialized instruction, and related services designed to meet each student’s needs. Families interested in learning more about available programs and services can visit the district’s Special Education webpage.

In addition to school-based supports, several organizations in San Diego County provide resources, advocacy, and services for individuals with autism and their families. These organizations offer information about evaluations, therapy services, family support programs, and community resources:

Autism Society of San Diego
Exceptional Family Resource Center
National Foundation for Autism Research
San Diego Regional Center UC San Diego Autism Center of Excellence

Families seeking support are encouraged to explore these resources and connect with their school sites to learn more about services available both within the district and throughout the community.

Through this recognition, CVESD continues its commitment to inclusive schools where students with diverse learning needs are supported through services, resources, and family collaboration.
