The Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD) has been recognized with the Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) Award from The NAMM Foundation, honoring the district’s outstanding commitment to music education and equitable access to the arts for all students.

Now in its 27th year, the BCME program highlights school districts and schools across the nation that demonstrate exceptional support for music education as a core component of a well-rounded education. In 2026, more than 1,000 districts and schools were selected for this distinction.

This recognition reflects CVESD’s ongoing commitment to providing students with meaningful and high-quality arts experiences that enrich learning inside and outside the classroom.

“At the Chula Vista Elementary School District, all students have the opportunity to participate in our Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) Program because we understand the transformative power of arts education. Our dedicated VAPA teachers provide meaningful experiences that allow students to explore music, learn instruments, develop stage presence, and express themselves creatively. We are proud of the lasting impact VAPA has on our students, families, and school communities.”

- Superintendent Eduardo Reyes, Ed.D.

Recipients of the 2026 BCME Awards were selected through a comprehensive application and review process that evaluated key indicators, including funding, instructional time, student participation, facilities, and community support. To ensure the integrity of the process, all applications were independently reviewed and verified by WolfBrown, a leading research and evaluation firm specializing in education and the arts.

CVESD remains committed to expanding access to high-quality arts education and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to learn, create, and perform through music.
