Rigorous Learning for All Year 3 Update

The Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD) is entering the third year of its five-year academic initiative, Rigorous Learning for All, reaffirming its commitment to high-quality instruction and equitable student success. This districtwide effort, launched to transform teaching and learning, is grounded in best practices from the National Center for Urban School Transformation (NCUST), aligned with California state standards, and guided by the district’s Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP).

The first year laid the foundation for meaningful change. In year two, the district's focus was on a turnaround framework that emphasizes four key domains: instructional transformation, turnaround leadership, high-quality professional learning, and multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS).

Strategic priorities for the second year included continued professional development for teachers and principals, updated school plans tailored to student needs, efforts to remove barriers to rigorous and engaging learning opportunities, and a districtwide focus on fostering strong school cultures that prioritize student well-being and achievement.

In the third year, the district’s focus centers on student experiences and elevating the role of student perspectives in guiding CVESD’s work to advance Rigorous Learning for All. Student voice will be at the center of the district’s focus with intentional opportunities to listen directly to students and better understand their experiences across our schools, classrooms, and learning environments.
