Sound Station Receives Innovate Award from SDCOE

Sound Station Logo with the text "Innovate Award Honorable Mention"

The Chula Vista Elementary School District’s (CVESD) Sound Station received the Innovate Honorable Mention Award from the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) during the 23rd Annual Innovation in Education Awards ceremony on May 14, 2026.

CVESD’s Sound Station is an immersive learning experience where sixth-grade students collaborate to compose, produce, and market music, all while exploring careers in the creative economy.

Through RIASEC-based activities spanning digital audio production, instrument creation, and graphic design, students connect their own strengths and interests to real-world career pathways. This program highlights how creativity is a rigorous discipline and that future-ready skills can be built just as effectively through a best as through a blueprint.

The Sound Station is part of the district’s Station Experiences Program. Our award-winning stations ensure that every student has the opportunity to identify and explore their strengths and interests and align them with potential careers in the future world of work.
